Match Report
FC United of Manchester Reserves brought their home programme to a close this season, unfortunately a 3-2 defeat saw Witton Albion leave with the points.

The reds started well with Robson Brown and Chris Hill having chances in the first five minutes. Sadly it was the visitors that opened the scoring on 12 minutes. Kayode Adewale was allowed to control a throw in before cutting across the box and curling a shot into the top corner.

For the next fifteen minutes EC United dominated possession, a Brown free kick tested Joe Walker in the Witton goal but otherwise there were chances but no real penetration.

Then Witton came back to life, Jake Parker came close twice around the half hour point before providing the cross for Alieu Sherriff to finish at the far post on 39 minutes.

This was shortly after a Brown header had been disallowed for offside but shortly before FC pulled one back. Francesco Frangillo was played in behind the Witton defence by Elliot Simoes and was approaching goal. A Witton defender appeared to be getting back to make a challenge and the ball slipped past Walker and in to the net. Frangillo assuring all concerned that the final touch was his as the teams went in at half time.

Five minutes into the second half another Simoes pass found Lewis Unwin on the edge of the box. His curling effort seemed bound for the bottom corner but it didn’t quite curl enough and drifted agonisingly wide.

Half chances came and went with neither goalkeeper truly tested until the 83 minute when a Witton counter attack called for a fine save by Sajjad. Then FC broke to the other end, seemingly with no result as the visitors shepherded the ball back to Walker. He spent too long considering his options as Frangillo closed in and blocked the clearance. The ball ran into the net and Frangillo ran into the post. A league policy of rolling substitutions allowed Haydon Mottershead to come back on whilt he got his breath back.

Witton claimed the winner in added on time when a defensive mix-up allowed Parker a free run at goal and making no mistake.
