A New Year sees Fund the Foundations approach the season run-in on the back of a solid first half but with plenty more to come. The £20,000 target for the first year is ambitious, but achievable (we hope!). There have been plenty of learning curves for all involved so far and not everything has worked as intended, but ever since FtF was launched in July of last year we have been blown away by the generosity and enthusiasm of fellow FCers to get involved and back the scheme.
Our aim is simple – to build up a ring-fenced pot of money which will be used to pay down the borrowing taken on to achieve the dream of having a home of our own in Moston. We believe assisting our club in these repayments is crucial to allow the day-to-day business to focus on other areas – such as developing our community programme, increasing attendances for Men’s and Women’s Team games and playing a leading role in the supporter-ownership movement. January update
The first month of 2024 was another cracker:
January’s prize draw was a Ten Match Ticket Book and the lucky winner has been notified and will be bringing along some friends and family from now until the end of the season to expose more people to the beauty of match days by the fans, for the fans.
February’s prize draw is another cracker – not only can you Fund the Foundations this month, but you can also be a part of them. Everyone who has donated to Fund the Foundations from its creation in July to the end of February will be entered into a very special draw to win a Brick at BP! Our bricked wall at the ground is a sight to behold; featuring names and messages from those on which our great club is built – our fans and co-owners. The lucky winner of this month’s draw will have a brick installed with their chosen message displayed, meaning they will be a part of Broadhurst Park forever.
We’re hoping for exciting plans in the coming weeks and months and would love to hear from fellow Reds if they have any ideas for fundraising, email: developmentfund@fc-utd.uk
Our club is co-owned by 2311 members, each of which own an equal share and have an equal ability to shape our future through the democratic structures on which our club is built. We believe with the removal of this ground-build borrowing, our club will thrive and our best days lie ahead. If each and everyone one of our 2311 co-owners signed up for a Fund the Foundations direct debit of £18 a month, in twenty four months this borrowing would be removed and we could really begin to show the power of fan-owned football in action – sign up to your £18 direct debit and let’s continue to demonstrate football can be run in a different way: https://pay.gocardless.com/AL00154K8Z55W1
