Big Coat Day
FC United’s Big Coat Day has been a regular, and hugely popular, feature of the club’s community work since 2005 and down the years the club has worked with a number of charities to help those most in need in the Manchester area.
The initiative usually takes place around the festive period and encourages supporters to collect spare warm clothing, toiletries and other items so that it can be distributed to those who need it most – across the City and further afield. In previous years we have seen collections total almost 2000 warm winter coats, 604 pairs of walking shoes and winter boots, in addition to masses of new underwear, hats, gloves and scarves bought and donated by our members.
Big Coat Day has worked with local organisations such as Two Brews, Vulnerable Citizen Support, Loaves & Fishes and Cornerstone. Support for the day has come from the likes of John Henshaw, James Nesbitt, Johnny Vegas, Julie Hesmondhalgh and of course our thousands of members.
