FC United’s Committee Structure
FC United’s committee structure was set up in 2021 to help deliver our vision, working on delegated powers from the Club Board. They work together and across the club and stakeholders to share plans, avoid duplication, identify new opportunities and learn from best practice.
The club has six committees, each with an area of the club to oversee:
- Commercial
- Marketing & Communications
- Community
- Co-ownership
- Football
- Finance & Risk
Commercial committee
Its role is to create and oversee the delivery of the club’s long-term commercial strategy. Accountable for ensuring our commercial vision is brought to life – “Operating within the club’s founding principles develop and grow a diverse set of income streams which allow the club to plan and achieve success on and off the pitch.”
- Owns the club’s commercial strategy
- Will make decisions according to the club’s values and ethos
- Will make decisions swiftly and act dynamically to realise value at the earliest opportunity

Marketing & Communications Committee
Its role is to work with multiple stakeholders across the club to ensure the quality, effectiveness, and performance of the club’s communications.
- Own the club’s communications strategy
- Work alongside and support the existing communications volunteers and radio contractor, making decisions with their inputs according to the club’s values and ethos
- Work with other club committees to dovetail where activity overlaps and support their initiatives as required

Community Committee
Its role is to work with multiple stakeholders across the club, and key partners in the area to develop and support a community programme which maximises the club’s community benefit to Moston & North Manchester.
- Support the club in developing a community strategy and delivery programme
- Form partnerships & grow the club’s capacity to strengthen the sustainability of the existing community programme and to seeking new opportunities to expand the programme
- Work with other club committees to dovetail where activity overlaps and support their initiatives as required

Co-ownership Committee
Its role is to develop and support an engaged community of co-owners that is central to the decision-making and direction of the football club.
- Provide input to expand / improve services and add value to membership
- Promote the benefits of volunteering and work with operations management and the committees to help fill resourcing gaps
- Support and advise on organisation of AGM / GMs / Elections
- Support membership growth by actively recruiting, retaining, and engaging co-owners (particularly younger people)

Football Committee
Its role is to create the club’s long-term football strategy and oversee its delivery.
- Develop and oversee strategic plans to drive the growth of elite and community football aligned to and supportive of the club vision and strategic goals
- Oversee and drive the development of women's and girls’ football
- Ensure football provision is fully inclusive and accessible to the local community and reflective of their needs
- Review and develop the Moston Juniors partnership, seeking new ways of working together to benefit the local community by providing more opportunities for young people
- Oversee the expansion of the academy through broadening the educational offering and supporting equal opportunities
- Develop relationships with local schools, leagues and grassroots clubs, seeking opportunities to get more people involved with sport and helping drive footfall to the club
- Oversee co-operation and professionalism across the club’s teams, with an overarching football philosophy

Finance and Risk
Its role is to oversee delivery of the clubs 5-year strategy and governance controls.
- Identify and advise on key opportunities, risks and challenges aligned to and supportive of the club vision and strategic goals
- Advise on financing, liquidity and debt optimisation
- Review quarterly reforecasting, management accounts and annual budget
- Oversee and advise on strategic business plans
- Advise on resource allocation and operational effectiveness
- Evaluate and advise on strategic plan progress and delivery
- Oversee major stakeholder relationships (MCC, Moston Juniors, Sport England, Football Foundation, Big Issue Invest)
- Review and advise on club governance and risk management including reviewing audit report
- Advise and support with policy development
- Evaluate and advise on major capital investments / projects / contracts
