Tom Greaves named as player manager for 2018-19 season

FC United is delighted to announce the extension of current player-manager Tom Greaves’ contract until the end of the 2018-19 season.

Having taken hold of the reins towards the end of October last year, Tom guided the Club through the tricky Christmas period of the season before the club confirmed their place in the Vanarama National League North earlier this month with a 1-0 home win against York City.

On the announcement, FC United CEO, Damian Chadwick said: “During the recruitment process back in November the main brief for all candidates was to keep the club in National League – Tom and his team have achieved that.

“We’ve also been in impressed with his attitude to playing the youngsters and more importantly how he galvanised the dressing room. It’s clear Tom has the leadership qualities needed to be a successful manager and I look forward to working with him and the team in the summer, shaping his own squad for the challenge next season.

“I’m sure all members will join me in congratulating Tom and his team and we can collectively look forward to next season with excitement. I would encourage all supporters to buy their season tickets early and show Tom and lads we’re right behind them!”

FC United board member, Nathan Ellis-Scott added:“ Tom Greaves and his coaches Tom Conroy and Jack Doyle took over at a particularly difficult time with the club in the relegation zone and having been knocked out of the FA Cup.

“To come in under those circumstances as a rookie coaching team and move us to league safety with two matches to go and retaining the Manchester Premier Cup is a real achievement. I can’t understate the importance of buying a season ticket which will allow Tom the budget to build a young exciting team which will kick on next season. We would ask you to sign up for next season as soon as possible and with your help Tom will be given the budget he needs”.

A delighted Tom Greaves added: “I’m absolutely made up, as are the whole management team and this is great way to end a fantastic week for the club after winning the cup on Tuesday night.

“We’ve got a great foundation to build on for next year and that’s down to the fantastic home support we’ve received at Broadhurst Park this season. The supporters have been brilliant week in week out and we need them back next season, so I’d encourage everyone to get their season tickets early.

“As I’ve said, there’s lots to work on, but there’s lots to look forward to going into next season here at the club”.

Tom and the rest of his coaching staff will be looking to sign off this season in style at home to North Ferriby United tomorrow at Broadhurst Park (KO 3pm) where fans will get the chance to show their appreciation to all the players and celebrate our cup success with both the men’s and women’s teams parading their trophies.

The match is our designated Youth United Day with free admission for all U18s and activities for junior supporters from 12 noon.

We would ask supporters to donate what they can above the basic price of their season ticket (which is kept artificially low to ensure no one is priced out of their club) as these donations are crucial to providing a stable club which can compete at this level. Season tickets priced at:

£100 Adults (suggested donation add £100),
£65 concessions (suggested donation add £65)
£21 Juniors (suggested donation add £21)

Season Tickets can be bought online ***Click here*** and will be available before and after tomorrow’s match from the main office and during the game from the membership stall in the ground.

Tom Greaves has signed up for 2018-19; now it’s your turn.
