Volunteer Profile: Laura Bagley

It’s been great to hear from different volunteers during volunteer’s week! As was previously said at the beginning of the week the club survives and thrives because of the immense work undertaken by our dedicated volunteers. I initially started my own volunteering journey back in 2021 by managing our football webpages system. This includes entering the line-ups at the beginning of home games and entering the goals, substitutions and cards as they happen as required by the league.

I attended a board meeting last year as an observer and was genuinely surprised by how much effort goes into running the club, how many intricacies and complexities there are behind the scenes that aren’t often spoken of. I felt inspired and wanted to know what more I could do to help out around the club, that I could also fit in around my university studies. As a result of this, and after some discussion with Natalie, I volunteered to become the club’s volunteer coordinator which I have found to be an intense but extremely rewarding role. The coordinator role encompasses a wide variety of things such as recruitment, pastoral care, arranging and managing volunteering events, networking across North Manchester and capturing and managing volunteer data.

I love volunteering for the club in both of the roles I do, it provides me with some great transferable skills, I’ve created some brilliant friendships and met some of the most amazing people. We’re all part of this club, all co-owners and members and it’s a privilege to be involved in it.

A final thank you must go out again to all of our volunteers, whether its committee members giving up their time at provide support on projects, people like Huw helping out around the ground, or Des who is currently brightening up the office and providing some vital administrative support. Of course, there are many more people too numerous to name as well.
