FC UNITED of MANCHESTER YOUTH TEAM 1 STOCKPORT COUNTY u19s 2nds 2
FC United of Manchester Youth team's final home National League u19 Alliance Division 'H' fixture of the 2021-22 season saw the Young Reds narrowly go down 1-2 against second placed Stockport County u19s 2nds on the Broadhurst Park 3G on Wednesday afternoon.
The visitors had opened the scoring on 10 minutes, an inswinging corner that arrowed into the FC United net despite the best efforts of home 'keeper Josh Brooks, the goal credited to ZACK STOKES.
Brooks then partly redeemed himself with a 34th minute penalty save after a Nathaniel Egyiri challenge had conceded the spot kick. Brooks guessed right and comfortably saved the effort.
Six minutes into the second half, FC United drew level. After good build up play by the industrious Sandro Da Costa, the ball fell nicely for ARLO BULLER, whose lifted shot beat both the Stockport defence and their 'keeper Luke Graham.
The home side then might (indeed should) have taken the lead. First a Yann Daryl Tchokotcheu shot struck the upright in the 65th minute, before a Iaia Balde effort similarly hit the same post just six minutes later.
The inevitable happened on 86 minutes when a rare Stockport County second half breakaway saw the ball land at the feet of centre forward DALLAS OMUROYI, whose low shot flashed just beyond Josh Brooks for a winner that just about keeps alive the visitors' divisional championship aspirations.
As for FC United of Manchester Youth, the Young Reds are next back in action on Wednesday 20th April 2022 when they travel to the Horsfall Stadium to take on Bradford Park Avenue u19s (KO: 1.00 p.m.)
