FCUM radio will be facing competition from another station at the match on Saturday, from Unity Radio. As part of the celebration of People United Day, the brightly coloured and aptly named Unity Radio bus will be picking up young people who have working with FC United’s community team over the past few weeks. The bus will arrive at Gigg Lane at 12 o’clock and park outside the ground. Unity radio staff will show young people how to mix music and how to do radio reports. They aim to cover the banner making workshop, the People United Day parade as well as the match itself. The bus has to leave Gigg Lane at 1 o’clock so to get involved in the music mixing get to Gigg nice and early and when the music mixing is finished get yourself to that banner making workshop. Interviews for the radio items will be taking place all day so even if you come late you still need to be prepared to be stopped and asked about what makes our club special and why we organise People United Day. If the reports are good enough they will be broadcast over the following week. Unity Radio broadcasts to a mainly young audience across North Manchester including the Ten Acres Lane area of Newton Heath. Pick ups are taking place in Ardwick, Gorton, Clayton, Newton Heath, Miles Platting, Cheetham Hill and Damhead.
