Chadwick and Nugent are back
Centre-backs David Chadwick and Rob Nugent are fully fit and ready for action against Newcastle Town on Saturday, although whether they will regain their places in the first team is yet to be decided.
Dave Brown and Liam Coyne have been deputising well for the injured first team regulars, helping United keep two cleans sheets against St Helens and Squires Gate, so manager Karl Marginson will decide whether to change his defensive partnership on the day.
Margy took the opportunity to check out Saturday’s opposition when they visited Flixton’s Valley Road back in August. Although Castle lost 2-1, he was impressed by what he saw - particularly with player-manager Nigel Gleghorn, who is still going strong despite being at the ripe old age of 44.
Margy told the website: "They got the ball down and played good football. Nigel Gleghorn just sat in the middle of the park and kept popping off short balls. But we’re not going to change. I thought we were excellent against Squires Gate, I know they weren’t up to much, but I thought we played really well so we’re going to carry on in the same vein and put pressure on them."??
As well as Chadwick and Nugent being back, Margy was happy to report that David Swarbrick is back in training after returning from a holiday in Australia. Margy said: "Dave’s been kicking a ball over there, so we’re going to get him in the reserves for a couple of games and then he should be alright."??
