Match Report
The FC United youth team were given a reality check as Mossley came to St Brides and went away with three points after winning 2-1, scoring twice in the first ten minute and providing a robust back drop which ensured a below par home performance was never likely to find a way back into the game.

The first goal came from the penalty spot after Obrian Richards was adjudged to have handled the ball. The second came soon after when Mossley won the ball from an FC defensive throw and broke through the home back line.

That sparked a response from the home side and looked to be fashioning an opening when Theo Kidd appeared to have broken through the back four only to be clumsily bundled over from behind. A free kick was awarded but came to nothing, as did first half endeavours.

The home side put in more effort in the second half but in truth the greatest threat came from long throws and when James Brooks headed against the bar from a free kick, it seemed there would be no reward.

That was until the 87th minute when Jonathan Poizer fired home at the far post from another free kick. Frantic efforts to chase an equaliser followed but came to nothing.

FC United of Manchester: Jonathan Beisty, Alex Stones, Obrian Richards, Kyle Cunningham, James Brooks, Connor Naughton, Joe Power, Christopher Smith (Matthew Hassall 49 mins), Theo Kidd, Matthew Boland (Jonathan Poizer 63 mins), Sam Howell. Subs not used Kial Callacher, Max Thomas, Tom Minnock.

Goal: Jonathan Poizer (87 mins)

Caution: Alex Stones and Connor Naughton.
