FC United central defender Tom Davies signed today for Fleetwood Town, who have agreed to loan Tom back to us for the remainder of the season.
Tom has been an important part of the promotion push this season and whilst it is disappointing to lose him he goes with the best wishes of everyone at the club. It is a testament to his hard work that he is making the step up into full time football.
Following Ollie Banks’ move to Chesterfield, Tom is the second FC United player this season to make a step into the professional game and demonstrates the quality we have within our squad.
Of this move, Tom said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for me to join a magnificent football club, such as Fleetwood Town. It is a tremendous gesture on their part to allow me to return on loan to FC. It is something that I wanted to happen because I wanted to help achieve promotion with FC United. I’d like to thank all my team-mates and the coaching staff who have helped me gain this opportunity.???
Tom went on to thank the FC United fans, saying: “My biggest thanks are reserved for the FC supporters whose unbelievable support has also been a major factor in helping me to move forward in my career. I want to repay that support by winning the League.???
Manager Karl Marginson had this to say about Tom’s move. “Tom’s performances since he joined us last summer have quite rightly been noticed by clubs further up the pyramid. He has been an exemplary member of our squad this season and has played a major part in putting us in our current position from where we can continue with our quest for promotion. His continued availability will surely help us with our promotion push."
Karl continued: “It also shows the quality of Fleetwood Town FC, in loaning Tom back to us, as they see that as part of Tom’s development before he joins them in the summer. They were also mindful of the timing of their move for Tom’s services and didn’t want to disrupt FC United’s run of good form. I would like to place on record FC United’s thanks to Fleetwood Town for the professional way in which they’ve conducted the negotiations with FC United."
