This change is required due to urgent remedial work carried out on our main pitch this week. As we’ve increasingly seen over the last couple of years, prolonged heavy rainfall and harsher winter conditions are placing significant pressure on football pitches across the region. Persistent saturation affects drainage, accelerates wear, and makes it much more difficult to maintain a safe, playable surface.
By completing this work now, we’re giving our pitch the best possible chance of withstanding the demands of hosting matches throughout the season and protecting its long-term condition.
We explored a number of alternative venues in and around Manchester, but unfortunately none were available at the times required. We also discussed the possibility of reversing the fixture with Curzon Ashton, but this option wasn’t available either.
