2000 Co-owners!

We’re now 10 weeks into the 2023-24 membership year and we are delighted to announce we have broken through the 2000 co-owners milestone! Whilst clubs throughout the footballing pyramid are traded from one dubious owner to the next, we can feel proud that our 100% supporter-owned model has ensured that our club will always remain ‘by the fans, for the fans’.

Our 2005 founding manifesto is still the bedrock on which the club is guided today:

1. The board will be democratically elected by its members
2. Decisions taken by the membership will be decided on a one member, one vote basis
3. The club will develop strong links with the local community and strive to be accessible to all, discriminating against none
4. The club will endeavour to make admission prices as affordable as possible, to as wide a constituency as possible
5. The club will encourage young, local participation - playing and supporting - whenever possible
6. The board will strive wherever possible to avoid outright commercialism
7. The club will remain a non-profit organisation

Being an FC United co-owner brings an array of positives, such as: voting on season ticket and admission prices, electing the club’s board, choosing the design of new playing shirts, taking part in general meetings and observing board meetings to name just a few. But it’s also about much more than all that, it’s about being part of a wider movement that is showing how football can be done in a different way. Fans can – and should – be at the heart of decision making within the game, given the respect and voice we all deserve.

Co-ownership is open to all, and we encourage anyone who believes in our ethos to get involved. Whether you're anti-glazer, passionate about supporters’ rights, work in the cooperative movement or want to support our community programme, consider becoming a co-owner and support us as we campaign for change.
