FC United of Manchester’s Academy ’A’ team recorded a home and away league "double" over Tameside College, Ashton FC Men’s 1sts with this 2-1 away win in the ECFA North West Men’s Category 2B League on the Tameside Stadium 3G on Wednesday afternoon.
The Young Reds took the lead on 15 minutes when ELLIOT JORGE SIMOES INACIO netted from long range with the home ’keeper out of position having charged down a Mason Gregg effort moments earlier.
The home side might have equalised just 60 seconds later when FC’s Rafael Martins was adjudged to have tripped one of their forwards just inside the penalty area. However, Sulaiman Sajjad guessed right to make a fine save from Ryan Shenton’s spot kick.
That wasn’t Ashton’s only decent chance, as on 38 minutes Sulaiman Sajjad had to make another good stop, and on 49 minutes Ben Fletcher cleared off the line.
On 61 minutes, the Young Reds went 2-0 up, when ELLIOT JORGE SIMOES INACIO made space to fire a low shot under the home ’keeper.
On 72 minutes Harry Kershaw hit the post with an effort that would have given the visitors a third goal, before the home side grabbed a late consolation goal through JACK COPE in the final minute.
