FC United’s academy team completed their ECFA North West Men’s Category 2B league programme with this 2-0 away victory against Liverpool FC Foundation Football College Men’s 1sts in Allerton on Wednesday afternoon.
WILL SHAWCROSS opened the scoring for the FC United academy team with a low shot that bounced awkwardly past the home ’keeper to make the half-time score 1-0.
On 19 minutes in the second half, KEENAN TUCK ran in on goal to curl the ball into the net from the edge of the penalty area, to make sure of the result, 2-0 in favour of FC United’s academy team.
Stand-in goalkeeper Kamahl Fuller pulled off a fine save in the dying minutes to deny the home side a consolation goal.
FC United’s academy team finish the season in pole position in the league, six points ahead of the runners-up (Oldham College (Ashton United) Men’s 1sts).
