FC United of Manchester Youth team recorded their first win of pre-season with this 5-3 home win against Gower College, Swansea Under 19’s on the Broadhurst Park 3G on Monday afternoon.

With the kick-off put back by 50 minutes due to the visitors being delayed en route on the M5 motorway, The Young Reds raced into an early lead when TEMI OROPO took advantage of a slip up by the Swansea ’keeper to put FC United 1-0 up on 11 minutes.

On 28 minutes, it was 2-0. SAM HARDING was fouled in just inside the penalty area and the same player made no mistake from the resulting spot kick.

On the half-hour mark, the home side went 3-0 up. MAX LEWENS left a couple of Swansea defenders trailing and finished with aplomb from the edge of the six yard box.

Three minutes into the second half, and it was 4-0 as MAX LEWENS was left free to place a low shot into the corner of the net.

Two minutes later, MAX LEWENS completed a well taken hat-trick with a close range shot high into the roof of the net.

The visitors looked down and out at this stage, but then rallied in the closing minutes.

First TAYLOR EVANS netted on 66 minutes after an indirect free-kick had been awarded to the Swansea men just inside the FC United of Manchester penalty area.

Then on 69 minutes, GAVIN JONES swept the ball home from 12 yards out to make it 5-2, and on 76 minutes, DAN BRIGGS added a third to make the final score 5-3.
