Late, late heartbreak for battling Reds

A couple of early lapses saw FC United Women very much up against it in their bid for, vital points to avoid relegation at home to Leeds United. The Reds showed that they weren't going to give up their place in the FA Women's National League Division 1 North without a fight as first Chelsea Flanagan pulled a goal back and then Ash Hayes levelled the scores on the rebound after a Kirsty Chambers free kick hit the bar. However, while pushing for what would have been a vital late winner, FC saw the result cruelly snatched when Leeds skipper Catherine Hamill headed in from a corner kick five minutes into stoppage time.
