FC United of Manchester Academy ’B’ team narrowed the gap behind league leaders Rochdale Sacred Heart Men’s 1sts following this 7-1 home win in the ECFA NW Men’s Invitation 3A league against Tameside College Stalybridge Men’s 1sts on the Broadhurst Park 3G on Wednesday afternoon.

After an evenly matched opening period, the Young Reds opened the scoring on 30 minutes after Max Lewens had been tripped inside the penalty area; TEMI OROPO placing the spot kick past the visiting ’keeper.

On 38 minutes, it was 2-0 as MAX LEWENS beat the offside trap before finding the back of the net.

And three minutes later, it was 3-0, as JACOBE ANDERSON headed home Abdul Muktadir’s inch perfect cross.

On 61 minutes, the FC United of Manchester Academy ’B’ team went 4-0 up. SAM HARDING scoring from close range after Temi Oropo had been twice blocked.

On 70 minutes, it was 5-0. Abdul Muktadir picked out NIALL WEBB who scored at the second attempt.

BOAKAI SANGARY pulled one back for Tameside College on 76 minutes, before a pass by Temi Oropo found JACOBE ANDERSON on 79 minutes who scored his second of the afternoon to make the score 6-1.

MAX LEWENS rounded off the scoring on 83 minutes with the home side’s seventh goal after Abdul Muktadir had seen his effort parried by the visiting ’keeper.

FC United of Manchester Academy ’B’ team complete their ECFA league programme with a trip to Bury on Wednesday 16th May 2018 when they play The Football College (North Manchester) Men’s 2nds at Goshen Sports Centre. KO 2pm.

Results elsewhere man that a win or a draw next Wednesday will be enough to see the Young Reds finish the season as ECFA NW Men’s Invitation League 3A divisional champions.
