Board Profile – Simon Preston

Current board term AGM 2023 – AGM 2025
Candidate statement AGM 2023:
I am honoured to submit my candidacy for a position on the board of FC United. As an early member of this great club, I care deeply about its growth and development. I believe my experience and passion make me a strong candidate to serve on the board.
For two years, I have volunteered on the commercial committee, currently holding the position of Chair. During this time, I have played a pivotal role in shaping and enhancing the club's commercial strategy. I have been fortunate to contribute to several of our most important commercial deals, which have not only strengthened our financial position but have also allowed us to invest in the growth and success of FC United.
My commitment to the club extends beyond the boardroom. I am an active member of the FC United Business Network and have proudly represented our club at various events, fostering relationships, and expanding our presence in the community. These efforts have not only bolstered our local support but have also helped us reach a wider audience, ensuring that FC United remains a vital part of our community.
Professionally, I bring nine years of experience in a commercial sales leadership role within a major automotive dealer group. My background has honed my commercial acumen and sales abilities, which I believe will be invaluable in realising the club's long-term vision. My career has provided me with the skills necessary to secure partnerships, maximise revenue, and contribute to the financial stability of FC United.
My top priorities will include continuing to strengthen our commercial partnerships, working hard to increase attendances, encouraging others to get involved with helping the club, and ensuring that FC United remains financially robust. I am committed to upholding the values and principles that our club was founded upon, prioritising our fans and community above all else.
I am excited about the opportunity to serve FC United in a more significant capacity and work alongside fellow board members to steer our club toward a bright future. We can build on our legacy and achieve even greater success on and off the pitch. Whilst we will encounter challenges along the way, it's worth noting the contrasting situations at Old Trafford and elsewhere to appreciate the strength of our supporter ownership model. Despite the ups and downs, the club remains uniquely ours.
I kindly ask for your support and vote in the upcoming election.
