Player Profile

Chris Almond (32) is a centre forward who joins FC United from Prescot Cables. Chris started his career at Bolton Wanderers before signing for Skelmersdale United where he spent a couple of seasons before joining Southport in 2012 where he was top scoring for them in the Conference. Due to Southport changing their training sessions to days, and due to work commitments, Chris left to move to Chorley in January 2014 and helped Chorley win promotion to the National League. He re-joined Skelmersdale for the 2015/16 season. Chris has known Brian Richardson (FC’s new Assistant Manager) from his days at Skem as well as Brian being his teacher at school, so joined Prescot Cables to play under Brian where he spent two and a half years. Last season Chris won the Golden Boot for the Evo-Stik League West Division, having scored 25 times in League matches and the Integro League Cup. Chris was also the joint winner of the overall Top Goalscorer award across all three divisions of the League. In all competitions last season, he scored 31 goals in just 36 first team appearances. Chris said “I’ve played against FC United a number of times and know what a huge following they have. I have known Neil Reynolds for a few years, and he tried to get me to move to Bamber Bridge when he was manager there. Looking around the place [Broadhurst Park], it’s a proper set up. And I’m really looking forward to playing for the club.”
