Player Profile
We’re delighted to announce signing on a month-long loan of goalkeeper Cameron ’Cam’ Belford. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Nuneaton Borough for their professionalism in allowing us to get this deal done, and especially thank manager Jimmy Ginelly .
Many FC fans may remember Cam from last season’s game, when the experienced shot-stopper engaged in some good humoured interaction with the SMRE as the goalkeeper, as he captained them to their second clean sheet against FC.
Others may remember him from his six seasons at Bury, where he appeared 39 times in their 2010/11 promotion winning season to Division One. Cam started out at Coventry and has played for a number of well known clubs including Southend United, Accrington Stanley, Mansfield Town, Swindon Town and Wrexham. Recently Cam made a move north of the border and spent two years at Stranraer, making over 70 appearances for them after a successful loan move from the Welsh side.
FC manager Neil Reynolds said "I’m always looking to add the right quality to the squad and I’m delighted to be able to bring Cam Belford in on loan, it’s about having competition all over the pitch, Paddy has been exceptional this season, one of our best players in fact, but as we’ve seen this season injuries can strike and we need to make sure we’ve got the depth to cope with whatever gets thrown at us. I’d like to thank Jimmy and Nuneaton Borough for allowing him to be available for selection.
