Youth Takeover Complete: Our Youth Run the Show at Saturday’s win over Warrington Town
Our young members well and truly took over Broadhurst Park on Saturday. The return of Youth Takeover Day saw our youngsters at the heart of match day for our game against Warrington Town, and it did not disappoint.
The day belonged to the youth of our community - they picked up the mic on the PA and commentary, supported the Kit Team, greeted our hospitality guests, and got stuck into even more roles right across the ground, from shadowing our club photographer pitchside or presenting the Man of the Match award and even quizzing first team manager Mark Beesley. It's now an annual event that we're proud to continue, and it's made possible by the energy and imagination our young people bring, and once again they delivered it in spades.
Half-time brought a brilliant Community Parade, celebrating the clubs and organisations that do so much for our community. Moston Juniors FC, Collyhurst JFC and Medicare Foundation were among those taking a lap of honour around Broadhurst Park, and the noise from the stands made sure they knew how valued they are.
The parade also gave fans their first look at FC United's new U16 girls team, introduced to the crowd as they joined the walk around the pitch. Another proud step forward for girls' football at the club.
A huge thank you to every young person who got involved on the day, and to everyone who came down to Broadhurst Park to back them and make some noise.
FC United exists because people wanted a say in something that mattered to them, and we think there's no reason that has to wait until adulthood. We believe that trusting young people with these responsibilities and showing them they are important to our community can have a big impact. Days like Youth Takeover Day show exactly why We Are Stronger United.
