Ahead of the 2026/27 season, FC United of Manchester are pleased to confirm the signing of 26-year-old midfielder Matthew Fearnley following his departure from Hyde United.
Fearnley joins as part of manager Mark Beesley’s ongoing work to strengthen the squad ahead of the next season, adding further quality, experience and competition in midfield.
The midfielder arrives at Broadhurst Park having gained strong experience at this level and will add energy, composure and versatility to the squad.
Speaking after agreeing to join the club, Fearnley said he was looking forward to the challenge ahead and becoming part of the FC United community.

From my previous visits, I’ve always admired the professionalism around the club and the strong sense of community - it is something that is really important to me. I can’t wait to put the shirt on, give everything for the badge, and get started. Looking forward to the season ahead and hopefully helping the team to a successful year!”
