After a year defined by fixture disruptions, it seemed fitting that Saturday’s Christmas Celebration was also heavily impacted by Storm Darragh. But, true to the spirit of FC United, the show went on – a testament to the resilience and dedication that defines our club and its supporters.
The open training session, moved to the 3G pitch due to torrential rain, was a sight to behold as players pushed through brutal conditions. Those who braved the storm to get to Broadhurst Park were treated to an engaging Q&A with manager Mark Beesley, who shared candid insights into his playing career (including a red card against FC!), his journey into management, and his aspirations for our beloved club.
Later, the “It’ll All Be Over By Christmas” party filled Broadhurst Park with festive cheer, laughter, and some very questionable karaoke performances!
Yet, the harsh weather took its toll, with many supporters unable to attend. The smaller crowd was understandable, but it also serves as a stark reminder of the challenges we face as a club. This year, more than ever, we need to come together to keep FC United thriving.
Let’s Rise to the Challenge Together
At FC United, we are proudly 100% supporter-owned. There’s no safety net, no wealthy benefactor to call on – our strength lies in each other. Together, we’ve faced adversity time and again, and together, we’ve always prevailed.
Right now, your continued support is more vital than ever. Here’s how you can help:
Looking Ahead with Hope
This December, we’ve lost the festive home games that are typically a lifeline for non-league clubs. These matches bring supporters together, fill the bar and shop, and strengthen our community bonds. This year, we’re missing all of that.
But what we haven’t lost is the unbreakable spirit of our FC United family. Together, we can face any storm – literal or figurative. Whether it’s donating, shopping, or simply spreading the word, every act of support makes a difference.
Thank you for standing by us, not just this December, but every day. We are Stronger United – and together, we will continue to carry on through it all.
Let’s make the new year one to be proud of.
