Volunteers needed, can you help?

Volunteering is at the heart of how we operate as a club, providing opportunities for individuals to meet new people, gain new skills and feel part of our close-knit community. Volunteers provide the club with invaluable support in a whole range of areas so that we can do much more than we could do ordinarily, improving our matchday experience in particular as well as keeping the stadium in really good working order.

We’ve got a number of volunteer roles within the club where we are looking to identify people who have the right skills and share our values and we’ve had a really good response from members in the recent survey with over 120 people interested in volunteering at the club.  We’ll be getting back to those people directly but we’re also keen to promote roles to as wide a range of people as possible. The first set of roles we are looking for are:

  • Grounds staff – we’re looking to support Jimmy with a volunteer or volunteers who are able to put some hours in each week primarily to cut the grass on the stadium pitch, external areas and external grass pitches. We estimate that this is about 15 hours in total with a good chunk of that on a Monday. In addition to cutting the grass, we can really improve pitch maintenance if we repair divots during half-time and immediately after each fixture. We already have a small team who help Jimmy with this but more people would reduce the time it takes and share the work out.
  • Pound for the Ground – Pound for the Ground is a really important fund-raising activity for the club which generates about £15,000 per year. We need volunteers who can sell PftG tickets on a matchday and complete the draw.
  • Traffic Marshals – our Traffic Marshals are really important in helping us to maintain a good relationship with our neighbours and local community by keeping fans travelling by car away from residential areas. Traffic Marshals are required from around 12:30 on a matchday until kick-off.

If you are interested in getting involved please send an e-mail to office@fc-utd.uk or please call Paul Smith (07805 664064) if you want to ask any questions.
