United Against Heart Disease Returns to Broadhurst Park on Saturday, 17th Janaury

United Against Heart Disease is back at Broadhurst Park on Saturday, 20 December, giving FC United supporters the chance to look after their heart health before kick-off.

At our last two matchday events in November and December, fans stopped by on their way into the ground for a quick blood pressure check and a chat about heart health. Many fans were surprised by their results. Most people who took part had blood pressure readings above the recommended level, and a small number had very high readings without realising it.

High blood pressure is often called a silent killer because many people who have it do not know. It usually has no symptoms, but it is a major cause of heart disease, including heart attacks and strokes. This highlights how important it is to stop by for a quick check and know your numbers. On the day, Morrisso Health will again offer free blood pressure checks that take less than 2 minutes.

In addition, Be Smoke Free Manchester, as part of our Kick the Habit campaign, will be on hand to talk with and support fans who want to stop smoking. Smoking is a major risk factor for heart disease and stroke, which is why it is a key focus of United Against Heart Disease. Fans who smoke, are thinking about cutting down, or want to know what support is available can stop by for a short, friendly conversation. There is no pressure or judgment, just information and support when needed.

As a thank you for getting involved, anyone who stops by for a blood pressure check or self-referrals with the Be Smoke Free Manchester team will be entered into a free raffle. Prizes include a shirt signed by the FC United team and other FC United goodies.
