FC United is kicking off a new effort this season to support the health and wellbeing of our fans.
Heart disease affects a lot of people in Manchester, and many don’t realise they could be at risk. Two of the biggest causes are high blood pressure and smoking, which are both common in our local communities.
To help tackle this, we’re bringing two free health stands to upcoming home games as part of our United Against Heart Disease campaign.
First up is our Kick the Habit initiative. We’ve teamed up with Be Smoke Free Manchester, who will be at the ground to offer friendly advice and help anyone who wants support to stop smoking. If you sign up for the service while you’re here, you’ll be added to our FC United raffle.
We’ll also be running Know Your Numbers, a free blood pressure check for fans aged 18 and over. High blood pressure often has no symptoms at all, so a quick check before the match can make a real difference. Anyone who gets their blood pressure checked will go into the same raffle.
Our first United Against Heart Disease Day is on 29 November, with more events on 20 December and 17 January. All entries from every event will go into one big prize draw, and the winner will be announced after the final event on 17 January.
The raffle prize includes a team shirt signed by all the players, along with a few other FC United themed goodies.
Everything is free and open to all supporters. Keep an eye out for the stands around the ground and get involved as we take on this challenge together.
