We’re pleased to announce the signing of goalkeeper Johnathan Diba Musangu from Rochdale, on an initial one-month loan. Johny has come through Rochdale’s academy and has been training with us for a couple of weeks. We’ve been impressed with what we’ve seen from him, and his personality has been a good fit with the rest of the squad.
Dave Carnell’s back injury is proving a bit more troublesome than we had first thought, so Johny gives us good cover whilst Dave recovers. Johny has been highly regarded since he was a schoolboy, helping his St Cuthbert’s High side to the final of the English National Schools Cup, and we’re excited to see him have an impact here at Broadhurst Park.
We have also signed left-sided defender Max Cartwright. Max was previously at Fleetwood, and has experience in this division after a loan spell with Chorley last season. I’ve been pleased with the way we have defended this season, and Max gives us another option at the back.
In addition to Dave Carnell, we have a few more players who are currently out with injuries.
Sam Madeley has a niggling calf injury. He came on in the second half at Salford, but it’s still not quite right, so we’re trying to not push him too hard until we know it’s fully resolved.
Tom Smyth has had a second operation on his knee, and is currently awaiting the all-clear to begin light training. Rory Fallon has also had knee issues, and has unfortunately had a couple of setbacks with it during his recovery.
Jerome Wright is another with a knee problem, but he should be back before too long. Tom Brown is close to resuming full training following his previous injury and, again, we’re hopeful he will be back in the mix in the near future.
