Regular Reds may be rested
A number of FC United’s fringe players and reserves will be hoping to make an impression on Saturday against Stone Dominoes as manager Karl Marginson looks set to rest a few first team regulars against the bottom of the table club.
After hard fought back-to-back away victories against Maine Road, Nantwich Town and Salford City, the third, second and fourth placed teams in the North West Counties Division One respectively, Margy feels that some of his players are worthy of a break.
Without wanting to give too much away about his team selection he said of tomorrow’s game: "We’ve had a tough three weeks and it’s a good chance for some of them to recharge their batteries."
The Reds have already played 22 games so far this season and some players have featured in every single game. With this in mind, a few regulars may well be rested in order to keep their sharpness for more highly rated opposition whilst providing the perfect opportunity for other players in the squad to show what they can do on the big stage.
There should be no shortage of talent waiting to come into the first team either as Tony Cullen’s Reserve Team are currently 10 points clear at the top of the North West Counties Reserve Division.
