Player news: Aaron Bennett signs until May 2025

FC United is delighted to announce that Wales under-19s international attacking midfielder Aaron Bennett has signed a contract with the club until the end of next season.

FC United is delighted to announce that Wales under-19s international attacking midfielder Aaron Bennett has signed a contract with the club until the end of next season.

The former Preston North End youth team player joined us in early December as a non-contracted player and has made an immediate impact, scoring two goals in five appearances, including the late winner at Ashton United on Boxing Day.

Aaron's all round play and attitude has impressed first team manager Neil Reynolds enough to offer him a contract. Neil said: “Aaron is exactly the sort of player we want to bring in to support the way we want to play football. I’ve been really impressed by how he’s adapted to the way of life at FC United. He’s got aspirations to play much higher up the leagues, so I’m delighted he’s committed his immediate future to us."

Aaron was initially keen to sign until the end of this season, but following the announcement of Neil's own contract extension until April 2026, he was delighted to commit to the club for longer with a contract securing his services until May 2025.

Speaking about Aaron’s role in the team, Neil added: “He’s a great lad, tenacious, and can play on the left or right. He can play the number 9 role, and obviously he’s suited to 10, but because he’s got such great vision he can also play as a midfielder too, so that gives us some real depth in the squad.”

We caught up with Aaron for a quick interview, which you can watch here. He said: “I didn’t know how it was going to go when I first joined, but I made the decision and it’s turned out to be a good one. I’m really enjoying my football again, so it (signing the contract) was a no-brainer.”

Congratulations Aaron - we're looking forward to seeing many more tenacious performances over the months to come!
