FC United of Manchester are delighted to announce Greenthumb as the club’s official pitch Partner for the 2024-25 season.

During the summer months, Greenthumb Manchester North have been working very closely with the Club and head groundsman Andy O’Sullivan and his team from Northwest Pitch Maintenance.

GreenThumb is best known for its lawn treatment service, building a nation of lawn lovers for over 34 years, with more than 220 GreenThumb territories across the UK; majority of which have been successfully franchised for decades and are owned by franchise partners operating under licence.

GreenThumb Manchester North owner Kevin Flavell said, “I was really keen to help the club and work with the local community, we wanted to demonstrate how our lawn treatment products and expertise could be scaled up and applied to a football pitch, working closely with Andy, FC United is a great partnership!"

FC United of Manchester is a supporter-owned, not-for-profit, semi-professional, community football club that plays in the Northern Premier League; the third tier in non-league football. Despite its current position in the league pyramid, it’s Broadhurst Park stadium and pitch rivals any League Two ground in the country. It’s supporters, managers and players demand a high-quality playing surface to accommodate FC United’s style of football, so Andy and his teamwork hard week-in, week-out to ensure the pitch is in pristine condition.

At the end of the last season, the old pitch was dug up, new drains were installed, and over 120 tonnes of soil and sand was introduced, together with over 20 bags-worth of premium grass seed being applied to the playing surface.

Kevin has been working very closely with Andy to understand his pitch maintenance programmes throughout the course of season, and was able to supply specialist products including fertilisers, wetting agents, growth regulation and more, to complement and enhance the overall grass and surface condition, specialists products only available to their customers and partners, and now FC United, as well as sharing over 30 years’ worth of advice and expertise.

FC United is pleased to welcome Greenthumb Manchester North as Match Sponsors for its upcoming league match against Ilkeston Town on Saturday 17th August. Greenthumb’s team of experts will also be located on the lawns outside the ground from 1pm on the day of the game to provide free lawn care advice to FC United supporters. Products applied to FC United’s pitch now available to our supporters by the experts.

Greenthumb Manchester North provide lawn treatment services for residents living in Rochdale, Oldham, Manchester and Salford. As well as keeping lawns in tip-top condition, they are also experts at dealing with problems like moss, weeds and grass plant health.
