Matchday Sponsors Show Their Generosity

It would appear that the mysterious Redeye who sponsored the match ball and programme against Fylde back in September and donated the benefits to good causes, has started a welcome and generous trend amongst our supporters. Groups have got together to sponsor our club and provide much needed revenue whilst at the same time donating the benefits back to others.

Saturday’s match against Nuneaton Town sees the equally mysteriously named Secret Mustard Society of Rugby sponsor the match ball. Seven of the mustard folk are attending the occasion but you won’t see them on the pitch at half time receiving their signed ball or eating the pre match lunch which comes with the package. They have chosen to donate the benefits to Talbot House, a local charity providing support to families and carers of people who have learning disabilities in Manchester. All I know from communicating with the Secret Society is that they first came to FC in 2011 and are proud co-owners who want others to benefit when they support the club. They will be back in January when this time it is the match programme that they will sponsor against Salford City.

December’s match against Boston United sees a barrage of benevolence as both the match ball and programme sponsors give away their spoils to good causes.

First up the match programme, which will be sponsored by the Giddies, a group of younger supporters usually to be found waving flags at the front of the SMRE. They have asked Andy Cheshire our Community Manager to find a good home for their benefits and we will be inviting one of our partner charities or local groups to the match in their name.

The match ball will be sponsored by the sometimes controversial Reporter from The Soul is One unofficial fans forum who has shown an innovative streak by asking Andy Cheshire to find a way of using the package to benefit the new youth group which now occupies our cabin on a Friday evening. Andy’s suggestion of raffling off the prize to raise enough money so that the group can attend a pantomime seems rather apt.

Into the New Year our much maligned (in football terms) Yorkshire cousins, who like to call themselves The Rainbow Firm have gone one step further and sponsored the match against what must constitute their local team, Halifax Town. Continuing the theme Andy Cheshire will be finding a worthy group or charity to receive the benefits that come with this.

Of course we would love to host any group or company who wish to sponsor a match but from all of us at FC a special thanks to Redeye, The Secret Mustard Society of Rugby, the Giddies, The Reporter from The Soul is One and the Rainbow Firm for their generosity.
