Match Preview: Stockton Town (H) - Pitching In Northern Premier League

Match preview for FC United's home match against Stockton Town in the Pitching In Northern Premier League.

Mark Beesley’s Reds will look to make it back-to-back wins in the Pitching In Northern Premier League as we welcome Stockton Town to Broadhurst Park this afternoon.

Our OpponentsStockton Town, The Anchors

Michael Dunwell’s Stockton currently occupy fourth place in the league table, with a seven-point cushion keeping the Anchors inside the playoff places. Stockton arrive in Moston hoping to continue their strong form of late, with four wins and one draw from their last five outings including a 1-0 win over Ilkeston Town last Saturday.

Stockton’s away form has been excellent since the turn of the new year, winning six out of seven games on their travels in 2025. In the goalscoring department, Michael Sweet leads the way for the Anchors with 17 goals in all competitions this campaign.

Amongst the Stockton ranks is former FC United forward Michael Fowler. The former Sunderland and Burnley man made 12 total appearances for FC in the curtailed 2020/21 season, scoring three goals along the way.

FC United Manager, Beesley on Gainsborough win, Stockton Town: “Having watched it back, I think we did a good job of nullifying their threat, although it would probably be fair to say we rolled our luck slightly. A moment of quality for Declan’s goal (McLoughlin) is what ultimately got us over the line.”

“(Stockton) have been one of the standout teams in the league all season long after getting promoted. We’ve been really impressed by how they’re set up and will definitely be expecting a tough challenge.”
