Match preview: Lancaster City (H) 8th February

This Tuesday sees FC United take on promotion rivals Lancaster City in the PitchingIn Northern Premier League. Both teams have had excellent patches of form this season which has led to a small four-point gap between the sides. Each club will be desperate to get the three points for their promotion charges. Lancaster City sit 10th in the league table with 24 points, just two places below FC United. The visitors will arrive at Broadhurst Park having won three of their last five games, and another win on Tuesday would take them into ninth place – one point behind FC. On the other hand, FC sit in eigth place with 46 points, losing just one of our last five games and getting ever closer to the play-offs. A win on Tuesday gives us the chance to move up to fifth place – above Scarborough and into the promotion spots.

The home team will arrive at the game happy, after their dominant 2-0 victory against Witton Albion on Saturday. Two goals from Aaron Morris and the Leeds United loanee Josh Galloway sealed the win for the Reds in the pouring rain of Manchester – who would have guessed? With two wins in a row, FC will be aiming to make it a hat-trick and solidify themselves as promotion contenders.

Lancaster City
The visitors from Lancaster will arrive at the game with the exact same match record for the last five games, winning three, losing one and drawing the other. As the visitors are just four points behind FC, they will be aiming to close the gap with a win and gain more ground in the promotion chase. Their last game was a hard-fought 1-0 victory against league leaders Matlock Town, thanks to an 87th-minute winner.

Head-to-head
The last game between the two sides was one to forget for the Reds as they lost 1-0. The only goal came in the 12th minute from the home side – Lancaster City, which was enough to beat FC United and take all three points. It has always been a close game between these two teams, as there has not been more than one goal between the sides since a 4-1 victory for FC back in 2015.
