Nick Spooner’s Hyde are currently level on 35 points with FC United, albeit having played three games less. Jack Redshaw remains the leading scorer for tomorrow’s visitors, with his last goalscoring appearance coming against Macclesfield on New Year’s Day.
Victories have been hard to come by for the Tigers as of late; Hyde’s last league win came on Saturday 30th November in a 1-0 triumph over Blyth Spartans. Hyde arrive in Moston off the back of an agonising 1-1 draw against Morpeth Town last weekend, in which the Highwaymen snatched a point with a 94th minute equaliser.
FC United manager, Mark Beesley said: “We went into (Matlock) expecting a tough game and that’s what we got. While I’m glad we were able to leave with something, I would’ve liked to have seen us put the foot down a bit more, especially once they were down to ten.
“(Hyde) have got a great manager and setup. Obviously, they’ll be looking to turn the corner slightly after their recent form, so there’s no doubt this will be a tough game for us.”
FC United have never beaten Hyde at Broadhurst Park, so will be hoping to achieve that feat at the sixth attempt. The Tigers have won three, drawn two of the contests in Moston.
This is the fourth match between the two clubs this season, having met in the FA Cup First Qualifying round in August and September. The first meeting produced a classic game, with FC coming back from 3-0 down, with just over 10 minutes of normal time remaining, to draw 3-3. A solitary Jake Thompson goal would be enough to see the Tigers through in the replay at Ewen Fields.
The first league meeting this season in late September was Beesley's first match in charge and FC's manager claimed victory at the first attempt with a 3-2 win for the Reds. Jordan Buckley scored a stunning first half hat-trick to help FC on the way to a first three points since opening day at Morpeth.
