Match Preview for FC United's trip to Hebburn Town tomorrow (3pm KO) in the Pitching In Northern Premier League.

Team News

  • New signing, attacker Matty Grivosti is available for selection following his move from Warrington Town.
  • Jordan Preston is nearing full recovery from a muscle injury; the midfielder may be involved tomorrow.
  • Jay Fitzmartin has returned to training this week, and there is hope the winger will feature on the bench.

Our Opponents – Hebburn Town, The Hornets

The Hornets have remained firmly amongst the promotion-chasing pack in the NPL Premier Division since our meeting in the FA Trophy in early October. Daniel Moore’s side are currently third in the league standings, with an impressive win on the road at Worksop a fortnight ago keeping Hebburn within touching distance of second place.

Striker Amar Purewal remains the hosts’ top scorer (eight), adding two more to his tally since our last visit to the Hebburn Sports and Social Ground.

Beesley on Hebburn Town: “They fought back well last weekend to get a point on the road at Leek Town, so I’m sure they’ll be feeling positive coming into the game.”

Success in the North East

Two of FC’s four wins in all competitions so far this season have come in the North West, with the opening day victory over Morpeth Town and the FA Trophy win over tomorrow’s opponents.

With last meeting being the inaugural competitive fixture between FC and Hebburn Town, tomorrow's game will mark the Reds’ first ever league match against the 2020 FA Vase winners.

Beesley on last Hebburn trip, Worksop defeat: “We had a really good result there in the Trophy a few weeks ago, but I wouldn’t say it was an easy game. Them conceding such an early goal obviously disrupted their plan, but we did well to take control of the game in the first half and then we defended well – something which we haven’t really done over the last few games.

“Last week at Worksop was a step forward from the previous week at Bamber Bridge, but ultimately we lost the game, so there is still a lot we need to improve on.”
