Match preview for FC United's trip to face Gainsborough Trinity tomorrow afternoon in the Pitching In Northern Premier League.
Russ Wilcox’s Trinity sit three points ahead of FC United in ninth place, and will look to extend an unbeaten run of nine games in all competitions dating back to February 1. Having won two of their last three, Gainsborough return home following a 1-1 draw away at Workington AFC last weekend.
Declan Howe’s 18 league goals this season lands him inside the top five for the division’s scoring charts, with his last effort earning the point at Borough Park last time out. Howe will hope to make it five goalscoring appearances in as many games, with already seven goals to his name in 2025.
It will be the 16th competitive meeting between Gainsborough and FC United, with the Reds taking the overall head-to-head with nine wins to Trinity’s four. FC have a positive record at The Northolme, winning four out of six visits including last season’s 3-1 win in early December ‘23.
The first matchup of the season between the two sides saw the points shared in a 1-1 draw at Broadhurst Park, with Adam Le Fondre cancelling out Will Lancaster’s first half goal in January.

Goals for Jerome Wright, Tom Greaves and Liam Brownhill steered FC United to a convincing 3-1 win away at Skelmerdale United on this day in 2014.
With eight straight league wins under their belt from the start of February, Wright’s 24th minute goal set FC up for a ninth, before Greaves and Brownhill either side of Ashley Dunn’s would-be consolation sealed the points in West Lancashire.
