The Teams

On Tuesday, we continue our promotion push against playoffs rivals – Warrington Town. Both sides have been equally impressive this season, winning the same number of points (49)- and they are separated by just four goals in the goal-difference tally. As the visitors have a game in hand, we need a good result to keep up with the promotion pack.

The Table

FC are currently nine points behind league leaders Matlock Town, who have two games in hand. However, we are just outside of the promotion spots and a win against Warrington would allow FC to swap position with The Yellows. Three points on Tuesday would also stop Bamber Bridge (7th) and Whitby Town (8th) from rising above FC, as they are both also on 49 points – so no pressure reds!

FC United of Manchester

FC will play the game off the back of an unfortunate 3-2 loss against Gainsborough Trinity. Despite goals from an in-form Regan Linney just before half time and fulltime, FC were unable to overcome the home team’s efforts who took advantage of a disrupted backline with FC missing the formidable centre half pairing of Curtis Jones through a hamstring, and Andy Halls to a stomach bug. Despite the result, FC are still in the fine form, losing just twice in 12 games.

Warrington Town

The visitors from Cheshire also had a reverse at the weekend, losing their last game 2-1 to 19th placed Hyde United, despite leading in the first half. A red card for Warrington’s Matthew Regan and two late goals past the 80th minute allowed Hyde United to take all three points. With the last loss, Warrington have only won one game from their last six- hopefully, FC can add to this statistic but it won't be easy by any means

Head-To-Head

The last game between the two sides ended in heartache for the reds as, the home side, Warrington Town won the game 2-0. Both of their goals came late in each half, the 44th and 82nd minute, which proved to be too frustrating for FC’s travelling players. Fortunately, we have the joint best home form in the league, winning 10 games at Broadhurst park – and we will be aiming to make that 11.
