The two teams
FC United welcome Macclesfield to Broadhurst Park in what will be the first competitive meeting between the teams. History between the clubs has been made up of friendly games so far, with the Reds making the trip to Cheshire on 3 occasions. There was also a trip to Moss Rose in the ‘early days’ to take on New Mills.
Macclesfield are expected to be strong challengers after gaining promotion last season, a series of impressive acquisitions has complimented an already strong squad as they look to take another step to regaining their league status. Tre Pemberton, Alex Curran, Hayden Campbell and Tom Peers will all be familiar to BP having previously played for FC.
In August 2005 FCUM began life at the tenth level of English football – North West Counties Division Two. How many divisions above were Macclesfield competing? Read till the end to find out.
