On Saturday 26th August, kick off 3pm, FC United welcome Boston United to Broadhurst Park in the National League North. Admission is pay on the gate: £10 Adults, £6 Concessions and £3 u/18s.

FC United go into Saturday’s match looking to gain much needed points having picked up just 1 point from the first 5 matches, leaving FC at the foot of the table and the only team yet to win a match this season. Saturday’s match is the first of two matches over the Bank Holiday weekend which also sees the Reds travel to York City on Monday ko 3pm.

After encouraging performances against Spennymoor, Kidderminster and Southport, the Reds were simply not at the races at Bradford PA last Saturday losing 3-0. Boston (currently 15th in the league) have won two and lost three from their opening 5 matches, however they have yet to win away following defeats at Southport (4-0) and Tamworth (2-1). Last season against Boston, saw FC winning the away fixture 3-2 and drawing the home fixture 1-1.

On Saturday we are encouraging supporters to bring along flags, banners and their voices to boost the match day atmosphere. We need the SMRE rocking and the Main Stand Paddocks bouncing.

We are delighted to welcome 26 year old midfielder Steven Irwin to FC United and will be available for selection for this weekend’s matches.

Irwin began his career at Liverpool in 2008 and despite topping the appearance charts for Liverpool Reserves in the 2010-11 season, he was released on 17 June 2011. On leaving Liverpool he signed for Dutch club Telstar, making his senior professional debut for them during the 2011–12 season. In September 2012 he signed for Finnish Premier League club FF Jaro before joining AaB in Denmark in 2015. In February 2017 he returned home and signed for English non-league side Skelmersdale United.

The only injury doubt we have for Saturday’s match is Richie Baker who is still suffering from a knee and calf injury.

THINGS TO NOTE FOR SATURDAY’S MATCH

  • All Season Ticket Holders should now have received their Season Ticket Card which you will need to scan the barcode when you enter the ground. If you have yet to receive your season ticket card, please contact the office on 0161 769 2005 at the earliest convenience.
  • After the match at 5.30pm the Main Stand Bar show the Man United v Leicester match on the TV screens.

Pre-match, this service will depart from the Crowne Plaza hotel, adjacent to the Hare and Hounds pub at Shudehill in Manchester, picking up at the Railway pub next to the Newton Heath/Moston Metrolink stop. The return shuttle bus only goes to the Newton Heath/Moston Metrolink stop after the game. (scroll down for more details).
  • Supporters will now be able to reserve seats in one block of the Main Stand by ringing the office by Friday on 0161 769 2005

  • This season, all food and drink provision is contained within the ground so fans will not be able to leave and return to the ground during the game.
  • We have a new Club Shop situated next to the Main Stand Entrance open before and after the match.
  • We would like to make supporters aware that a local resident living on St. Mary’s Road near to the ground is getting married on Saturday. There will be a heavy presence of cars, wedding vehicles and guests coming and going from that address up to 2pm. We would therefore ask supporters who normally travel by car to the ground via St. Mary’s Road to take a small diversion, turning left off St. Mary’s Road onto Joyce Street followed by a right turn into Lightbowne Road. The shuttle buses from the Railway Pub will also take this slight detour. We would also like to remind fans that car parking on St. Mary’s Road and roads off it are prohibited.
