FC United fans are being asked to use their enthusiasm and knowledge about the game to become voluntary scouts for the club.
Manager Karl Marginson has set up the framework for a new scouting system and now wants supporters to join up and play a part in it.
He is looking for supporters who will go to watch non league games when they’re not watching FC United – looking out for players who could fit into the squad.
“People probably don’t realise that just by watching football regularly, you become knowledgeable - you don’t necessarily need a lot of training to be able to spot a potentially good prospect for FC United,??? said Karl. “Our supporters own the club and have been doing a superb job running it, and now I’m offering them the chance to be more involved with, and potentially influence, how the squad itself develops. It would be missing a trick not to get our supporters scouting for the club, especially as they can cover so many games across a large area between them.???
Karl has already enlisted the help of Simon Heaton, who he played with at Rotherham, and FC United supporters Wayne Clark and Steven Wood. He now wants to develop the structure and grow the team of scouts –starting with a meeting for interested fans to explain how the works and what they’d be expected to do.
Any interested supporters should email their details to the club:
