FC United volunteer Alfie Marran-Jones finished in the top three of the Young Volunteer of the Year category at the Manchester FA Grassroots Awards at the Sheridan Suite on Friday 15th November.
Alfie, 14, was given special recognition and received a certificate on the night for finishing in the top three of the eight shortlisted nominees. First place went to Anisa Ali of the Manchester United Foundation.
Alfie was shortlisted earlier this year for the various roles he carries out for the club, which include content creation for the social media team, making match day announcements on the public address system, and working as part of our kit team, including attending training to help ensure everything runs smoothly.
Alfie said: “It was an honour to be nominated and to make the final three. I was able to meet other volunteers from local clubs and discuss grassroots football. I’ll continue to give my all to FC United and try to make you all proud.”
Alfie’s dad, Dan, who also volunteers for the club, said: “It was a pleasure to attend the Manchester FA Grassroots Football Awards, and we’re so proud of Alfie’s nomination.
“The room was packed with volunteers, young and old, who like Alfie contribute so much to the football clubs they love. It was also so refreshing to hear from Ella Toone, who credited grassroots football in helping shape her career.”
Everyone at FC United would like to congratulate Alfie on his fantastic achievement and thank him for all his volunteering efforts.
