FC United is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our board as a Voluntary Non-Executive Board Member with a focus on community development. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in community engagement and development, and a commitment to enhancing the club's impact within the local community. This is a strategic role that will contribute to the overall direction and governance of the club, ensuring that our community values are at the heart of our operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic guidance and oversight on community development initiatives, ensuring alignment with the club’s mission and values.
  • Community Engagement: Develop and strengthen relationships with local community groups, stakeholders, and supporters to foster a sense of inclusion and belonging.
  • Program Development: Advise on the creation and implementation of community programs and projects that address local needs and promote social cohesion.
  • Governance: Participate in board meetings, contributing to discussions and decision-making processes with a focus on community impact.
  • Advocacy: Advocate for the club’s community initiatives and represent the interests of the community within the board.
  • Fundraising and Sponsorship: Support efforts to secure funding and sponsorships for community projects and initiatives.

Skills and Experience:

  • Community Development Expertise: Proven experience in community development, social work, or a related field, with a strong understanding of community needs and dynamics.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically about community engagement and development, with a track record of successfully implementing community programs.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse groups.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and drive positive change.
  • Commitment: A deep commitment to the values and mission of FC United, with a passion for using football as a tool for community development.
  • Board Experience: Previous experience serving on a board or in a governance role is desirable but not essential.
