Announcement
Here’s a link to send to your workmates and friends...
Do watch out as we’ll be issuing more soundbites from famous friends of FC United’s Big Coat Day in the build up to the December 26th derby fixture, encouraging people to come along and donate some warm winter clothing to aid the homeless.
People are beginning to get the message that they can make a difference with FC. More big news - Royal Mail is now promoting our Big Coat Day to all their staff in delivery offices and on visual display screens across the UK. Bury Council is also asking all their staff to support the event. Guinness Northern Counties Housing Association has put posters up and posted a story on the company intranet and will be collecting clothes etc. to take to Gigg Lane on Boxing Day.
The derby, versus Ashton, has been declared an Under 18s Go Free game, so what with fire engines, an FC Brass band and fans specially dressed up in their big coats, and the coat collection, it’s worth urging friends and families to come down.
Any reasonable quality winter clothing can be brought to Gigg Lane between 12 noon and 2.55pm where it will be collected by Mustard Tree and Boaz Trust charities that distribute the clothing. Those that cannot get to Gigg Lane are asked to notify the club and we will make arrangements for collections
Let us know if you get your colleagues and bosses or schools, colleges, stores or sports clubs to support it. Contact us at
