FC United’s youth team came from behind to make it two pre-season wins out of three with an entertaining 3-2 victory over AVRO on Thursday night.
A strong AVRO side gave the young Reds a run for their money at Mancat but were unable to make age and experience count; even with former FC United favourite Gareth Ormes at right back.
FC United went ahead after 15 minutes as a long range shot flew into the top corner of former FC Youth goalkeeper Jake Edwards’ goal. The young Reds had a second disallowed and in truth dominated the first half.
There were numerous changes for both sides as the game progressed and AVRO were eventually good value for a 2-1 lead midway through the second half.
However, Chuks Akuneto’s side refused to be beaten, pulling level late on before eventually clinching victory in the last ten minutes.
