FC United Women's Team Player Emily Walton to Return This Sunday

After a long spell out injured, FC United Women's Team Player Emily Walton has penned a letter to the fans ahead of her return to playing action this Sunday. Turn out in your numbers and welcome Emily back to playing action.

“After a long and challenging journey, Sunday marks a special moment as I make my return to the pitch following an ACL injury. It will be 562 days since I last played for FC United.

The past months have tested me both physically and mentally. There were tough days, setbacks, and moments of doubt — but also plenty of support, encouragement, and belief from the people around me.

I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who’s helped me get back to this point. To the physios, Kate and Emma, and our S&C coach Zak for their patience and expertise; to the coaches for trusting the process; and to my teammates for constantly lifting me — whether that was on the training ground or privately. Your support has meant more than you’ll ever know.

I’m also incredibly grateful to my family and friends who stood by me throughout the rehab, especially on the days when progress felt slow.

A special thank you as well to the fans, and to everyone who supported and donated towards my GoFundMe — your kindness, messages, and belief helped carry me through some of the hardest moments of this journey.

To be back playing again, wearing the shirt and contributing to the team, is something I don’t take for granted. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, excited for what’s ahead, and ready to give everything for the team once again.

Emily x"
