2023 was a memorable one for our Women’s Team; promotion as champions and a historic FA Cup run saw the team reach the Second Round Proper – our deepest run in the competition yet.
2024 brings new challenges and opportunities, with January set to be a big month for the club as we face the 3 teams above us in the table, 3 opportunities to get vital points on the board.
First up it’s an away trip to Norton & Stockton Ancients this Sunday (7th). Norton are currently 10th in the table, 3 points above Jennie Swarbrick’s side in what will be a huge game for both clubs in the battle for survival.
7 days later we welcome York City to Broadhurst Park. This one is set to be a cracker, with York currently in 9th place and within touching distance for the Reds as we look to close the gap on those teams in the positions of safety. A memorable away win at York City in the FA Cup earlier in the season will provide the inspiration for what will be a pivotal game.
The month comes to an end with the trip to Chester Le Street Town on Sunday 28th January. Level on points with FC United, this game could be a big step towards our aim of staying up in this new division.
