FC United Welcomes Jennie Swarbrick as Women’s Team Manager and Community Manager

FC United is delighted to announce the appointment of Jennie Swarbrick as the new manager of the women's team and as our Community Manager. With an impressive background and a wealth of experience, Jennie brings a fresh perspective to the club, making her a significant addition in these dual roles.

As FC United's first female football manager, Jennie’s appointment represents a historic moment for the club and demonstrates its ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion, while also highlighting the strides being made in women's football. With over two decades of experience in coaching and sport development, Jennie is more than qualified to lead FC United's women's team to new heights.

Jennie’s extensive journey in the football world includes roles that range from grassroots to professional levels. Most recently, she served as the U21's Head Coach at Liverpool FC Women, where she played a pivotal role in player development and team achievements. Notably, she led the team to victory in the Women’s Super League Academy Plate in April this year and supported multiple players in their transition to Liverpool FC Women’s first team. Indeed Jennie has also assisted in the development of several members of the current England women’s World Cup squad.

Her dedication to fostering talent extends beyond the pitch as Jennie has spent years mentoring young adults and coaches. Her UEFA A Licence, coupled with her experience and continuous pursuit of knowledge through research and professional development courses, makes her the ideal fit for both managerial and community roles.

In her capacity as FC United's Community Manager, Jennie will drive the club's initiatives to engage with and support the local community. Over the past year, FC United has laid the groundwork for this crucial role, underscoring its commitment to investing in the well-being of the community. The role has been designed in close alignment with the club's community commitments and funders' expectations.

Jennie’s comprehensive experience as a Department Manager for Community Sports and Health Programmes at Bolton Arena, and her leadership roles within the Manchester United Foundation and the Football Association, have demonstrated her ability to create and implement impactful community programmes.

Speaking about her appointment, Jennie Swarbrick shared her excitement: "Joining FC United is a tremendous honour and a significant responsibility. I'm thrilled to lead the women's team and contribute to the club's community initiatives. I am committed to nurturing talent, driving community engagement, and making a positive impact in every way possible."

Paul Butcher, a member of FC United’s Board, expressed his enthusiasm for this strategic appointment, stating, "Jennie's arrival is a statement of intent for FC United. Her expertise, passion, and dedication align perfectly with our values and ambitions. We believe her leadership will not only elevate the performance of our women's team but also reinforce our role as a pillar within the local community."
