FC United sign goalkeeper ahead of Trafford's New Year's Day visit
FC United have signed former Hyde goalkeeper David Carnell from Curzon Ashton ahead of our New Year’s Day clash against Trafford at Gigg Lane as James Spencer awaits news on his injury.
Carnell, who has Conference experience with Hyde, is expected to come straight into the team in place of 19-year-old Ed Wilczynski, who has kept two cleansheets in three matches since joining on loan from Huddersfield Town.
Regular shot-stopper Spencer is looking at a lengthy lay off after suffering a knee injury during the recent 2-0 victory at Fylde. Margy said: "Spenner has got to go back to see a specialist on the 6th January to find out the full extent of his injury but unfortunately, unless we get some good news, he’s looking at months rather than weeks (to recover)."
Meanwhile, centre-back Adam Jones will play one last game for Nantwich Town before returning to the FC United first team in place of the soon to be suspended Tom Davies. In a similar arrangement, Lewis Lacy has been released by the club and will be joining Ramsbottom to get some games.
Margy also confirmed that there was no curfew in place for the players on New Year’s Eve. He said: "I trust them to look after themselves. After the win at Buxton they will be keen to get back out there and get another win under their belts."
Get yourself to that football ground and cheer on the lads in 2014.
