FC United of Manchester Joins Forces with North Manchester’s Health Creation Project

FC United of Manchester is proud to announce its partnership with Manchester Settlement (charity) on their Community Health Creation Project – a pioneering, community-led initiative focused on improving the lives of people living with long-term health conditions across North Manchester.

Funded by the NHS through the Manchester Local Care Organisation – the body that brings together NHS and community services across the city – the project takes a fresh approach to tackling the root causes of poor health and wellbeing. By working hand-in-hand with local people and community organisations, it aims to create tailored, place-based support that helps individuals manage conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, respiratory illness, and mental health challenges. The health creation project is being led by Manchester Settlement, a long-established community organisation with deep local roots and a track record of delivering person-centred support via innovative practice.

As a key partner, FC United of Manchester will bring its deep local connections and trusted relationships to the programme. The club will play a leading role in engaging residents, helping them to take control of their own health and delivering support across the Moston, Miles Platting, Newton Heath, and city centre neighbourhood. Our focus is to ensure that the support provided is inclusive, sustainable, and firmly rooted in the lived experiences of the community.

Stacy Partridge, Community Manager at FC United of Manchester, said:

“We’re proud to be part of this important initiative. Our work has always been about supporting the health and wellbeing of our community, and this partnership allows us to focus more closely on those living with long-term conditions, making sure their needs are heard and met.”

Maqbul Rose , Project Manager for the Community Health Creation Project, added:

“FC United’s deep roots in the community and their commitment to empowering their community,  make them an invaluable partner. Together, we’re building trusted relationships and actively listening to people to support health service development, to truly reflect what matters to the people of North Manchester.”

The Health Creation Project is based on a model where ‘health is created by communities in communities’’, rather than imposed from the top down. As part of this approach, FC United of Manchester will work with residents to help design support that reflects what truly matters to them. This ensures the project is not only inclusive and effective, but built to last.

This partnership is another step forward in FC United’s commitment to community benefit – and a powerful example of how football clubs can play a vital role in tackling health inequalities and improving lives.
